Key information about the e-Visa

• The visa itself will only be stamped into your passport upon arrival.
• For this reason, the term “e-Visa” is somewhat misleading – it is essentially an e-Visa application process.
• Please ensure that the form is completed accurately and truthfully.

Required documents for the online application

✔ A recent digital passport photo (must be uploaded) – file size no more than 300 KB

✔ A copy of your passport as a PDF file (must be uploaded)

Please note regarding the passport photo:

Kindly ensure that you obtain a professionally taken, recent passport photograph for the visa application.

Even if your children’s passports are slightly older and their appearance has changed somewhat, this will not cause any issues, as long as the passports are still valid. The Ministry of Home Affairs requires a recent digital passport photo with the visa application in order to have a current and realistic image of the applicant. There is no need to renew the children’s passports if they are still valid.

Filling out the application – important notes

“Will you have money on arrival in Namibia?”

You must answer “Yes” to this question. You will then be asked to specify the amount of Namibian Dollars (N$) you will carry in cash. Example: if you bring approximately € 230 in cash, this currently equals around N$ 4,300. Additionally, you should be able to present your credit card upon entry to confirm your financial means.

“Places to be visited in Namibia”

You will receive a Confirmation of Travel / Invitation from us, which verifies that your trip is fully paid and that you are travelling with LeafLove Safari. While this document is not usually required, it can be helpful in case of inquiries at the border.

Additionally, we provide a list of all booked accommodations with contact details, which you can simply copy and paste into the relevant application field.

After submitting the application

Once the application is successfully submitted, you will receive a confirmation with a payment link. The visa fee can be conveniently paid by credit card. After payment, you will receive another confirmation, which must be presented upon arrival.

Visa application submitted – but payment not going through?

Sometimes the payment process on the website may freeze or take an unusually long time to complete. This issue is often related to the web browser being used. If this happens, please try a different browser: users have reported problems when using Firefox, whereas Safari or Microsoft Edge generally work more reliably.

Important entry requirements for Namibia

1. Travelling with children

• You must carry full birth certificates for all children.
• If only one parent is travelling, a certified consent form from the non-travelling parent is required.

2. Important documents for entry

While the online confirmation is usually sufficient, the Ministry reserves the right to request additional documents. Therefore, please carry the following:

• Proof of full payment for your LeafLove Safari tour (you will receive the document Invitation_Confirmation_SafariBooking from us)
• Overview of your itinerary with accommodation details (you will receive the document Short Itinerary Lay-out from us)
• Possibly a recent bank statement (our recommendation, but it is rarely or probably never requested)
• Return flight ticket or confirmation thereof
• Proof of medical or travel insurance

3. Passport validity

• Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your date of entry.
• Your passport must contain at least three blank pages.

Multiple entries are allowed

Did you know? This visa is a multiple-entry visa. This means you can leave Namibia during your trip (e.g. to Botswana or South Africa) and re-enter without any issues.

A small but important tip from us: arriving at Windhoek airport

You might just land in Windhoek at the same time as other international flights. If that happens, long queues at passport control and immigration are common. Sometimes the line even extends outside the terminal building – meaning you’ll be waiting outdoors.

It can be windy, or the Namibian sun might already be blazing. So please come prepared: wear comfortable clothes, bring a hat, a light jacket and a bottle of water.

One often-overlooked detail: if you feel the need, use the toilet before leaving the aircraft. Once you’re inside the immigration hall, it’s difficult to access the restrooms without losing your place in line.

Another thing to keep in mind: there are no counters or writing surfaces available in the immigration hall. So make sure to have a pen and something firm to write on – even a stiff notebook will do.

Some of our clients were required to write their flight number and the name of their first accommodation in the top right corner of the e-visa application, as this information is apparently added manually. Please note down these details in advance on a separate sheet – this will save time on arrival.

In short, the old Namibia rule applies from the moment you arrive: hat, jacket, water bottle, pen, writing surface – and a final toilet stop on board. Then you’re all set.

Can you still get a visa on arrival at the airport?

According to the information currently available to us, it is still possible to travel to Namibia using the previous arrival form and apply for your visa upon arrival at the airport. Experiences, however, vary considerably. Some travellers report that this process is quicker than applying for an e-Visa in advance, while others have found it more time-consuming. It is also often mentioned that the queue for a visa on arrival may be shorter than the queue for travellers who have already applied for an e-Visa. As procedures may change and individual experiences differ, we do not wish to make a specific recommendation – we simply want to make you aware of this option so that you can decide which approach suits your travel plans.
