Albert Voigts von Schütz
Leaflove Safari is my lifestyle…
On a gulet on the Turkish coast, I had the idea of a life in tourism in 1996. Until then I had been a carpenter and a farmer’s son.
My father showed me the beauty of nature and how valuable it is to “live together” in and with nature. Through my father I was taught early on how important and interesting nomenclature is.
Although I completed the full tour guide training well back then, Socrates always reminds me that until today we “don’t know” and always have to keep learning.
My trips are meant to a unique and enjoyable experience!
I always strive to bring together the perfect balance of time, experience, discovery and tranquillity in your trip.
Have fun and come by,
Albert

Didi (Diethelm) Rust
travelled a lot myself…
Didi is a friendly, down-to-earth outdoorsman who is very popular with our guests. For many years he has been leading various tours and informs his guests very broadly. Didi is a Farmer and proud owner of the Erongo Rocks Farm, which we love to use our individually oriented guests.
Didi has been well traveled in the world and can quickly become a friend with his sensitive character and tolerant manner.

Hartmut Kolb
Natural history travel is my forte
Hartmut sometimes cannot lead all the travels because he has to ”ring birds in the Caprivi” or wants to support ”an animal census in the national park”. This is exactly what we love about Hartmut, because his love of nature is transferred directly to our clients.
Hartmut has been travelling through southern Africa for over 25 years and is not afraid of a safari… even if he has to camp in the dust of Botswana. The country, the history and the remarkable insider knowledge are conveyed to our guests on every safari in a very personal and friendly way.

Jonathan Hafeni Nambombe
naturally good…
Jonathan is certainly one of the best guides in terms of natural history and has offered local tours and explanatory drives on numerous Namibian bush lodges for many years. He therefore leads his national safaris with a deep understanding.
When Jonathan showed me a species of roller spider I had never seen before, unearthed a “Dancing white Lady” (spider of the Namib) and impressed me with his in-depth knowledge of various Namibian special birds, he was of course to start guiding with us immediately.
Our tours are almost always guided in German, but if you would be willing to enjoy your tour in English, we would very much like to recommend Jonathan. As he is not only a super-enthusiastic way of explaining nature but also a very likeable contemporary, every safari with him is a great pleasure.

Wentzel Mall
I will lead you into nature….
Wentzel loves to go deeper than our other guides into the wilds. He knows Kaokoland and Damaraland like the palm of his hand, likes to drive for us to Khaudom National Park and camp there with our guests. Wetzel likes it adventurous, dusty, muddy and natural…. and yet is a true connoisseur of nature. What we love about Wentzel is that he is not at all shy to work hard for our guests and brings good observations.
Wentzel describes himself as an “Adventure Safari Guide”. He knows the OvaHimba people on a personal level and knows how to approach a desert elephant. German is not his mother tongue, but he can communicate fluently in German.

Roger Murangi
a German Herero with knowledge of nature
Being on the road with Roger is pleasant. A man who has been guiding German-speaking groups through the country since 1997, knows every corner of the country and additionally is a farmer himself… now he is someone who can guide. You learn vastly about nature and plenty about the people of the country. Roger has the ability to convey his deep insider knowledge of the country and its people in a very sympathetic way. I have known Roger for 25 years and I am grateful when he, as a freelancer, leaves his cattle farm to his workers for a few weeks.

Eckart (Ecki) Scholz
historical & natural
Eckart Scholz, known in Namibia as Ecki Scholz, is a serious connoisseur of this country. His precise and well-informed historical explanations, his knowledge of the country and its people in ethnological terms, have been much appreciated by many guests. Geologically, Ecki is very knowledgeable and has a great interest in the fauna and flora of this country. As a long-established Namibian who tirelessly explores this country, Ecki is a very good tour guide of a friendly nature.

Eckart Demasius
bird technical insider knowledge
Eckart Demasius is one of the few tour guides who have ever achieved the Badge 3 level of training.
Eckart has specialised in ornithology and has written one of the most charming books “Birding in Namibia” with the well-known Namibian illustrator Christine Marais.
Eckart leads Studiosus tours full-time, but is always happy to help us on the one or other individual trip. After all, our tours are not only popular with our guests, but also with the local tour guides!

David Jaantjies
Tourists inspire me
David is a family man and is passionate about looking after our clients on the farm. If you know English well, you will learn a lot about the traditions of the Nama, the attitudes of the locals and of course a lot about nature.
Ever so often it can happen that David suddenly stops in the middle of an explanation about the life of the Nama and shows you a track of the leopard or the round excrements of the brown hare.
We do have regular guests who find a game drive with us less interesting and always would like to repeat a game drive with David.

Tobias Hamutenga
it blooms because of me…
Even on weekends, Tobias often comes to work without being asked and inspects our garden, which, with his dedication, can definitely be considered his garden. Baboons are chased out of the trees, the water is checked and the beds are neatly raked. Tobias comes from northern Namibia, where farming is the order of the day… he clearly transmits his love for the earth as our farm’s indispensable gardener.
When I look out of the farm’s Leaflove office (there is one in Swakopmund and one on the farm) I see Tobias as the guardian of the intact world.
He also takes care of the wood for the barbecue, the chickens, the fish and our kitchen garden.

Gokas Swartbooi & Lena Jaantjies
We take care of hygiene
Nothing works without Lena and Gokas, because while we have to put together your trip, make bookings, lead trips personally and be on the road elsewhere, Gokas and Lena keep the farmhouse and the 6 guest rooms tidy and clean. (If you also want to stay at Leaflove Farm).

Franz (Jackson) Gauseb
on the mountain bike I show you my world
He is young, friendly and speaks quite little. When I asked Franz the other day where he had gone on his mountain bike last weekend, he just said casually: “Blässkranz”. Now you should know that Blässkranz is 80 km away and that Franz did 160 km on the weekend.
We have built very nice mountain bike trails on our farm and Franz will guide you… don’t worry, at your pace and according to your abilities!

Isaak (Namab) Richter
Spanners make me happy
Isaak came to my father as a child. He drove a truck as an attendant for many years and learned every trick under the sun. Isaak can do it all! Changing batteries, removing engines, changing and resurfacing tyres, adjusting brakes, repairing wind motors and solar stations….
and… Isaak is the best tracker in Namibia (at least that’s how I see it). It often happens that I identify a springbok track and he just scratches his head mischievously, because “you can see that this track belongs to an impala” (to be honest, after a lifetime in the field I still don’t see the difference). Well, the man is just excellent and we are very happy to have him with us for 30 years.

Bernhard Garoeb & John Swartbooi
with a hammer in his hand…
Our farm is situated very far in the south of Namibia. Tourists need nice rooms, well-built bathrooms and a clean infrastructure. Bernhard is a master of his trade, as he can brick, tile, lay pipes and also maintain mountain bike trails. John is his silent and faithful helper and never complains about hard work.
Bernhard is an angel with hard hands, what he tackles works and he is not shy of work!

Lisa & Albert Voigts von Schütz
behind every successful woman is a man who is as little annoying as possible and on the road a lot ..
Lisa is a graphic designer / illustrator and has a strong influence on the “visuals” at Leaflove. Lisa owns the Graphic Arts Studio and “doesn’t really have time”… but still she does everything for her husband and likes to help me make everything a bit nicer.
