Albert Voigts von Schütz

Albert Voigts von Schütz

Leaflove Safari is my way of life…

The idea to lead a life in tourism struck me while aboard a Gulet on the Turkish coast in 1996. Up until then, I had been a carpenter and a farmer’s son.

My father instilled in me from a young age the beauty of nature and the value of “coexisting” in and with nature. Thanks to him, I also learned early on the importance and fascination of nomenclature.

Although I successfully completed the full training to become a tour guide back then, Socrates always reminds me that we still “do not know” and must continue to learn.

My goal is to bring joy to your travels!

I always strive to achieve the perfect balance of time, experiences, discoveries, and tranquility in your journey.

Enjoy and come visit,

Albert

Alfred Schultz

Alfred Schultz

just love framing Africa…

Alfred effortlessly brings a smile to many faces in Namibia. Originally trained as a professional hunter, he has now shifted his passion to the realms of the camera and binoculars. With great enthusiasm and a profound understanding of nature, Alfred operates “naturewise,” as we express it here in Namibia. His areas of interest span the origins of things, paleontology, and the captivating local history
Didi Diethelm Rust Erongo Rocks

Didi (Diethelm) Rust

Having traveled extensively himself…

Didi is a robust and friendly nature enthusiast who is highly popular with our guests. For many years, he has led various trips and provided guests with broad and informative insights. Didi is a farmer and the proud owner of the beautiful Erongo Rocks Farm, which we gladly use for our individually-oriented guests.

Having traveled widely, Didi’s empathetic character and tolerant demeanor quickly make him a friend to those he encounters.

Hartmut Kolb

Hartmut Kolb

Naturalist travels are my strength.

Hartmut may sometimes be unavailable to guide as he needs to “ring birds in Caprivi” or support “wildlife counting in the national park.” This is what we love about Hartmut, as his passion for nature is directly transmitted to our clients.

For over 25 years, Hartmut has been traversing Southern Africa, never shying away from any safari, even if it means camping in the dust of Botswana. The country, its history, and his remarkable insider knowledge are conveyed very personally and warmly to our guests on every safari.

Jonathan Hafeni Nambombe

Jonathan Hafeni Nambombe

Naturally skilled…

Jonathan is undoubtedly one of the best naturalist guides, having offered local tours and informative drives for many years at various bush lodges in Namibia. Consequently, he leads national safaris with profound insider knowledge.

When Jonathan showed me a species of wheel spider I had never seen before, unearthed a “Dancing White Lady” (Namib spider), and impressed me with his in-depth knowledge of various Namibian specialty birds, it was only natural for him to start guiding with us.

While our tours are almost always guided in German, if you are open to enjoying your tour in English, we highly recommend Jonathan. Besides his super-enthusiastic approach to explaining nature, he is also a very likable individual, making every safari with him a truly enjoyable experience.

Wentzel Mall

Wentzel Mall

I’ll guide you into nature…

Wentzel loves delving deeper than usual into nature. He is well-versed in Kaokoland and Damaraland, enjoys venturing into the Khaudom National Park for us, and camps there with our guests. Wentzel appreciates the adventurous, dusty, muddy, and natural aspects of safari life, yet remains a true naturalist. What we admire about Wentzel is that he is not too proud to work hard for our guests and make great observations.

Wentzel describes himself as an ‘Adventure Safari Guide.’ He has a good understanding of the OvaHimba people and knows how to approach a desert elephant.

Roger

Roger Murangi

A German Herero with naturalist knowledge.

Traveling with Roger is a pleasant experience. A man who has been guiding German-speaking groups through the country since 1997, knows every corner of the land, and is also a farmer… he has stories to tell. You learn a lot about nature and a great deal about the people of the country. Roger has the ability to convey his profound insider knowledge about the land and its people in a very personable manner. I’ve known Roger for 25 years and am grateful when, as a freelancer, he leaves his cattle farm to his workers for a few weeks to join us.

Eckart (Ecki) Scholz

Eckart (Ecki) Scholz

Historical & Natural Expertise

Eckart Scholz, known as Ecki Scholz in Namibia, is a knowledgeable authority on this country. His precise and well-informed historical explanations, along with his understanding of the land and its people from an ethnological perspective, have been highly appreciated by many guests. Geologically versed, Ecki has a keen interest in the fauna and flora of this land. As a longtime Namibian who tirelessly explores the country, Ecki is an excellent and friendly nature guide.

David Jaantjies

David Jaantjies

Tourists inspire me.

David is a family man and passionately takes care of our customers on the farm. Those proficient in English can learn a lot about Nama traditions, the attitudes of the locals, and, of course, a great deal about nature. It may happen that David pauses in the midst of explaining Nama life to show you a leopard track or the scat of a hare. We now have repeat guests who find a game drive with us less interesting and prefer to repeat a guided walk with David.

Tobias Hamutenga

Tobias Hamutenga

“It blooms because of me…”

Even on weekends, Tobias often comes to work without being asked, inspecting our garden, which is actually his garden. Baboons are chased away from the trees, water is checked, and the flower beds are neatly raked. Tobias hails from northern Namibia, where agriculture is a way of life… he clearly imparts his love for the earth as an indispensable gardener on our farm.

When I look out from the Leaflove office on the farm (we have one in Swakopmund and one on the farm), I see Tobias as the guardian of the idyllic world.

He also ensures a steady supply of firewood, takes care of the chickens, the fish, and our kitchen garden behind the scenes.

Gokas Swartbooi & Lena Jaantjies

Gokas Swartbooi & Lena Jaantjies

We take care of hygiene.

Nothing runs smoothly without Lena and Gokas because while we are putting together your journey, handling bookings, personally guiding tours, and being elsewhere on the move, Gokas and Lena ensure order and cleanliness in the farmhouse and the 6 guest rooms (if you also wish to stay at the Leaflove Farm).

Franz (Jackson) Gauseb

Franz (Jackson) Gauseb

On the mountain bike, I’ll show you my world.

He is young, friendly, and speaks quite a bit less. When I recently asked Franz where he had ridden his mountain bike over the weekend, he casually replied, ‘Blässkranz.’ Now, you should know that Blässkranz is 80km away, and Franz casually covered 160km over the weekend.

We have built some very nice mountain bike trails on our farm, and Franz will lead you—don’t worry, at your pace and according to your abilities!

Isaak (Namab) Richter

Isaak (Namab) Richter

Wrenches make me happy.

Isaak came to my father as a child. He spent many years as a companion on a truck, learning every trick under the sun. Isaak can do it all! Battery changes, engine removal, tire changes and reupholstering, adjusting brakes, repairing wind motors and solar stations…

and… Isaak is Namibia’s best tracker (at least that’s how I see it). It often happens that I misidentify a springbok track, and he just scratches his head, saying, ‘You can clearly see that this track belongs to an impala ewe’ (honestly, after a lifetime in the field, I still don’t see the difference). Well, the man is good, and we are very happy to have him with us for a whole 30 years now.

Bernhard Garoeb & John Swartbooi

Bernhard Garoeb & John Swartbooi

With a hammer in hand…

Our farm is located very far in the south of Namibia. Tourists need beautiful rooms, well-built bathrooms, and a clean and beautiful infrastructure. Bernhard is a master of his trade, as he can do masonry, tiling, lay pipes, and maintain mountain bike trails. John is his silent and loyal assistant, who never complains about hard work.

Bernhard is an angel with tough hands; whatever he tackles works, and he is not afraid of hard work!

Lisa & Albert Voigts von Schütz

Lisa & Albert Voigts von Schütz

Behind every successful woman is a man who bothers as little as possible and is often on the go…

Lisa is a graphic designer/illustrator and has a significant impact on the visual aspect at Leaflove. Lisa owns the Graphic Arts Studio and “doesn’t really have time”… but she does everything for her husband and willingly helps me make everything a bit more beautiful.
